I believe that the best learning and development takes place in the context of a Caring Relationship....parent-child, coach-athlete, counsellor-client; you name it.

I remember playing baseball as an 11 year old and was feeling a little nervous in a new league with older kids. I was playing centre field one game and made a strong, accurate throw to cut down a runner at home plate.

I thrive on seeing you succeed...when we work together I will support your journey of self-discovery, allowing you to see yourself with greater insight, treat yourself with more compassion, leading to bolder actions and the realization of your full potential.

And I remember my coach at the time, Mr.Andrews, confidently telling me to “go home and wrap that left arm of yours in Golden Leaves”. That meant a lot to me and galvanized my belief in myself as I went on to have a very successful amateur baseball career as a pitcher and first baseman. More importantly, this kind, supportive coaching was part of what made me fall in love with a sport for life - and staying involved and succeeding in sport, both as a player and later as a coach and coach trainer, has had an extremely positive influence on my mental health to this very day. It was a small caring exchange with a little boy, but it had a powerful impact on me. And it is that same caring insightful approach that I bring to the table when working with you. 

Having earned my BA in Communications from SFU, and an MSW from UBC, and having enjoyed a wonderfully varied and satisfying 30 years practicing as a Registered Social Worker (RSW), I am excited to be focusing on my two greatest passions in my practice: Working with (Student) Athletes, and working with Parents.
